...I've lost my ever-lovin' mind.

I know that comes as no surprise to anyone - except the surprise that my mind ever came back for me to lose it again - but, well, I'm throwing myself in over my head again.

"And what is it this time, Carol?" you may ask, slowly backing away with furrowed brow.

I've signed up for the the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Oh, stop with the eye-rolling.

It's not until September, so I have eight months to train and raise money. And, unlike my try at the APLA Half-Marathon, I have a larger circle of people from whom to beg money, plus I am making sure I have the right shoes. I certainly learned my lesson, after injuring both ankles during my half-marathon training. In addition, this will be walking, not running or jogging, which will be much better for my poor, beleagured joints.

Organized training will start in February, but I think it's time to start my own training. Because while I love to walk, 39+ miles over the course of two days are still a lot.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In June I gave [info]gryffud a kidney (1000 points). Last month I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). Last Tuesday I saved a busload of nuns in Angola (326 points). Last Friday I helped [info]kymmz across the street (6 points). In February I gave [info]polarbeast some porn (-10 points). In August I helped [info]gralyn hide a body (-173 points)

Overall, I've been nice (137 points). For Christmas I deserve a Nintendo Wii!

...and popping out.

Much like most of the country, Los Angeles is in the grips of a heat wave. And, much like the citizens of the rest of the country, I am damn tired of it. Part of it may be due to the fact that I'm riding my bike nearly every day, averaging three miles a day five times a week (some days I ride two miles, other days I ride six or seven miles), so perhaps I'm running a bit hotter these days than usual. But part of it is proabably because I've never been fond of the summer. Me and heat ain't exactly best buddies.

I am so ready to have a talk with the Heatmeister. I mean, folks are dying because of this heat wave. It is way past time for it to break.

So today. Bad headache. Bad workday. Must take Advil.
